The BAS Engineer is responsible for installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining building automation and control systems within commercial, industrial, and mission-critical environments. This role supports project teams, ensures proper system functionality, and helps deliver high-performing, energy-efficient solutions for clients.
Install, wire, and configure building automation system (BAS) components including sensors, controllers, actuators, and networked devices.
Support commissioning activities by testing system performance, verifying sequences of operation, and documenting results.
Diagnose issues with BAS hardware, communication networks, and control logic; provide timely repairs or recommend corrective actions.
Assist with system upgrades, retrofits, and integration of new equipment.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, electricians, and mechanical contractors to ensure accurate and efficient installation.
Interpret control drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering documentation.
Perform system checks and preventative maintenance to ensure long-term reliable operation.
Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and system changes.
Support adherence to company safety procedures and site-specific requirements.
Provide exceptional customer service and communicate project status or technical issues as needed.
Associate degree or technical training in HVAC, electronics, controls, or related field preferred.
3+ years of experience working with building automation systems (DDC, EMS/BMS preferred).
Understanding of HVAC equipment operation and control sequences.
Experience with controls platforms such as Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, Tridium/Niagara, Distech, Schneider, or similar systems.
Ability to read wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and control schematics.
Strong troubleshooting skills with both hardware and software-based control issues.
Familiarity with low-voltage wiring, networking basics, and field devices.
Proficiency with standard computer tools (Microsoft Office, mobile apps, control software interfaces).
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and support multiple projects.
Willingness to travel to job sites and work in active facility environments.
