Impact of the Role General Profile

Essential Functions - Assists with the installation, operation, testing, and adjustment of various types of conventional or automatic machines used to produce precision parts and instruments.
- Fabricates and modifies parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
- Machines parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
- Measures, examines, and tests completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
Required Qualifications - Required education and experience: Attending a Vocational / Technical School or internal training program OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education & Experience or Skillset; No prior experience needed
Preferred Qualifications - Preferred education and experience: Vocational/Technical Training Degree
- Discipline/Major: Technical training preferred
- Knowledge, skills & abilities: Mathematical skills. Technical expertise. Manual dexterity. Physical Stamina. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Leadership skills.
Physical Requirements - Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
- Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
- May need to stand for long periods of time.
- Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
- May be requested to work a different shift.
- Must be willing to work outside normal business hours as required.
- This position is Safety-Sensitive.
Travel Requirements: - Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
- Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
