Job Description

Job Summary

Provides a safe and secure environment for hospital patients, visitors, and employees by enforcing hospital security regulations and continuously monitoring assigned areas for potential safety hazards. Investigates complaints or potential criminal conduct; assists in restraining patients as necessary; provides protective services and may arrest criminal suspects under State Special Police authority.

Essential Functions

  • Patrol assigned areas with particular attention to locations where security problems have occurred.
  • Identify unsafe conditions and improperly secured property to prevent theft, injuries, or damage.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
  • Investigate thefts, shortages, and other complaints involving potential criminal misconduct; notify law‑enforcement agencies and detain suspicious individuals as appropriate; make arrests when authorized.
  • Prepare and submit accurate written reports and maintain incident logs; keep supervisor informed.
  • Maintain accountability for valuables/property and evidence; ensure safekeeping and proper documentation.
  • Operate integrated security systems and dispatch personnel via radio.
  • Assist with workplace and domestic victim support; respond to medical emergencies and restrain patients when authorized.
  • Support departmental committees, task forces, and teams as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related field (preferred).
  • No substitution of experience for a degree.
  • Class D Passenger Vehicle Driver’s License.
  • BLS Certification (preferred).
  • Optional certifications: CHSO, CHSS (preferred).
  • Experience in hospital security, police, emergency medical services, or customer service (3–5 years preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal communication and customer‑service skills; ability to de‑escalate and manage aggression.
  • Effective independent and team‑oriented work; multitasking capability.
  • Strong problem‑solving, critical‑thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Good judgment, prioritizing, and creative resolution of issues.
  • Intermediate computer skills: typing and database software.

Remote Type: Onsite Work Location: 10 Vining Street, Scheduled Weekly Hours: 0, Employee Type: Per Diem Work Shift: Evening (United States of America). Pay Range: $22.88 – $32.72/Hourly, Grade 5.
