We are seeking an experienced Fleet Manager to oversee the daily operations of our non-traditional fleet supporting a 24/7 industrial automotive manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for managing and maintaining a diverse range of material-handling equipment, including forklifts, booms, tuggers, utility carts, and related assets. The Fleet Manager will ensure equipment reliability, compliance, and cost efficiency while coordinating scheduling, payroll, reporting, and system administration within our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Fleet Oversight & Maintenance
Manage preventive and corrective maintenance for forklifts, booms, tuggers, carts, and other plant support vehicles.
Ensure all fleet assets meet safety, regulatory, and operational standards.
Oversee vendor relationships and service contracts for equipment repair and maintenance.
Operational Management
Utilize CMMS to track assets, schedule work orders, and ensure accurate recordkeeping.
Develop and monitor fleet performance metrics, downtime analysis, and cost tracking.
Maintain 24/7 equipment readiness to support continuous manufacturing operations.
Team Leadership & Administration
Supervise and schedule fleet maintenance staff across multiple shifts.
Oversee timekeeping, payroll, and workforce planning to ensure adequate coverage.
Provide training and performance management to improve team effectiveness.
Strategic Planning & Compliance
Develop and implement fleet management policies, safety programs, and preventive maintenance schedules.
Partner with operations leadership to forecast equipment needs and manage capital planning.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and internal safety standards.
5+ years of fleet management or maintenance management experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or logistics environment.
Strong knowledge of CMMS systems (IBM Maximo or similar).
Proven leadership experience in supervising multi-shift operations.
Solid understanding of material handling equipment (forklifts, booms, tuggers, carts, etc.).
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in payroll systems, scheduling, and reporting tools.
