Organization: United University Professions
Location: Statewide with primary homebase in Hudson Valley/Downstate area

Salary: $80,000 - $85,000 (based on experience)
Job Type: Full-Time/Management Confidential

Primary Responsibility: Recruit New Members!

Come build union power with UUP! United University Professions is seeking two dedicated and outgoing Organizers to help grow our membership base. In this role, you will be directly responsible for recruiting new members and strengthening our union’s presence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct face-to-face conversations with non-members to recruit them for their union.
  • Lead and participate in door-to-door campaigns at worksites and in local communities.
  • Work directly with union members to develop organizing capacity.
  • Mobilize members for union actions, campaigns, and contract negotiations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in organizing, advocacy, or a related field.
  • Proven success in union or community organizing, especially through direct outreach.
  • Experience with public sector unions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse groups.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve organizing goals.

Requirements:

  • Ability to travel throughout the state frequently.
  • Availability to work irregular hours to meet campaign needs and deadlines, including evenings and weekends.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and similar software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; comfort learning new tech systems.
