Position : Junior QA Tester

Location : Albany, NY - REMOTE

Duration : 12+ Months

OVERVIEW

The Microsoft Solutions team is responsible for the design, development, and operation of a diverse portfolio of systems primarily focused on internal business processes and productivity. The portfolio includes software systems spanning a number of critical business functions and technology areas including Large Scale Resources, Integrated Energy Solutions, Human Resources, and Artificial Intelligence.

Responsibilities:

• Knowledge, skills and abilities: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a QA Analyst role.
• Experience with QA as part of an Agile team following a Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process.
• Experience with QA of web applications (including frontend and backend).
• Basic knowledge of SQL.
• Skill in managing multiple diverse activities simultaneously, delivering on commitments, and operating with speed, accuracy, and strong judgement.
• Ability to help identify and drive the best possible solution when presented with a series of opportunities and constraints.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group.
• Experience with any of the following is a plus: Microsoft Azure, Azure DevOps, Visual Basic .NET, Atlassian Jira.

• The QA Analyst must be able to communicate effectively and:Work with business analysts, developers, and project management to verify and validate software systems while following a Software Development Life Cycle process.
• Define and document testing strategies and test cases in partnership with the Business Analyst and Developer.
• Document findings in clear and concise language within Jira environment.
• Effectively communicate status, collaborate, and problem-solve with relevant stakeholders.
• Collaborate with colleagues to identify recommendations for process improvements, overcoming constraints, and resolve difficult operational and technological issues.
• Identify and report risks to management.
• Plan and coordinate User Acceptance Test (UAT) sessions with IT and business stakeholders.
• Participate in technical reviews of their own and other's work.

Expected Deliverables

a. Test plans and test cases

b. Documented software defects

c. Status Reports, to include accurate status updates to assigned Jira tickets

Experience Level: Entry to Mid Level

The Contractor should be able to demonstrate the following qualifications

1 - 2 minimum years of experience in Software Quality Assurance

Interest and experience in energy and energy efficiency

Prior experience in government is beneficial, but not required
